Playwright Conor McPherson is set to write and direct a film adaptation of the stage musical Girl from the North Country. Chlöe Bailey, Tosin Cole, Olivia Colman and Woody Harrelson are attached to star in the movie based on McPherson’s Great Depression-set musical inspired by the songs of Bob Dylan about a group of travelers whose lives intersect in a guesthouse filled with music, life and hope. Graham Broadbent and Pete Czernin (The Banshees of Inisherin, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) are producing the Blueprint Pictures production. Sony Music/Legacy Recordings have released two different soundtracks for the stage musical: the 2017 Original London Cast Recording and the 2021 Original Broadway Cast Recording. No word yet on a production start date for the film adaptation.
