Director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) has announced that Stephen Barton (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Titanfall, Apex Legends12 Monkeys, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Watch Dogs: Legion) is set to score the upcoming film adaptation of the video game series Gran Turismo. The racing movie starring David Harbour, Archie Madekwe & Orlando Bloom is based on a true story and follows a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won him a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race-car driver. Jason Hall (American Sniper) and Zach Baylin (King Richard) wrote the screenplay. PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash & Carter Swan (The Last of Us) are producing the project with Doug Belgrad (Bad Boys for Life, Charlie’s Angels) and Dana Brunetti (The Social Network, Fifty Shades of Grey). Gran Turismo will start principal photography this coming week and is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 11, 2023 by Sony Pictures.

Barton’s other recent projects include the third season of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard, which is set to premiere on February 16, 2023.
