Composer Brian H. Kim (Search Party, Panic, BH90210, Star vs. the Forces of Evil) is reuniting with director Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, The Eyes of Tammy Faye) on the upcoming drama Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies. The film is based Michael Ausiello’s bestselling memoir of the same title and stars Jim Parsons, Ben Aldridge, Sally Field, Antoni Porowski, Nikki M. James, Jeffery Self and Bill Irwin. The movie follows Ausiello as he unpacks the emotional maelstrom into which his relationship was plunged in the eleven months that took his partner, photographer Kit, from his diagnosis with terminal cancer to his passing. David Marshall Grant (A Million Little Things) & Dan Savage (The Real O’Neals) wrote the screenplay. Showalter and Parsons are also producing the project with Jordana Mollick (The Lovebirds, The Dropout), Todd Spiewak (Young Sheldon, Call Me Cat) and Alison Mo Massey. Kim has previously scored Showalter’s 2016 feature Hello, My Name Is Doris. Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies will be released in select cities on December 2, 2022 by Focus Features before expanding nationwide on December 16.
