Opening in theaters nationwide this week is the fantasy romance Three Thousand Years of Longing co-written and directed by George Miller and starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton. The film’s original music is composed by Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Godzilla vs. Kong, Deadpool, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Alita: Battle Angel). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and original song co-written by Holkenborg and performed by Matteo Bocelli. Also opening wide is the supernatural horror thriller The Invitation directed by Jessica M. Thompson and starring Nathalie Emmanuel, Thomas Doherty, Hugh Skinner, Sean Pertwee and Courtney Taylor. Dara Taylor (The Tender BarBarb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, Echo Boomers, Little Ellen) has composed the film’s original music. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening nationwide is the thriller Breaking co-written and directed by Abi Damaris Corbin and starring John Boyega, Michael Kenneth Williams, Connie Britton, Nicole Beharie, Olivia Washington and Selenis Leyva. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Abels (Get Out, Nope, Us, Bad Education). No soundtrack album has been announced. Opening in select theaters today is the thriller Jane co-written and directed by Sabrina Jaglom and starring Madelaine Petsch, Chlöe Bailey, Chloe Yu, Ian Owens, Nina Quezada Bloomgarden, Melissa Leo and Kerri Ann Medders. Anna Drubich (Scary Stories to Tell in the DarkFear Street Part 3 – 1966, Barbarian) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a high school senior who embarks on a social media-fueled rampage against those who stand in the way of her success, is being distributed theatrically by Blue Fox Entertainment and will premiere on September 16 on Creator+.

Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the Spanish comedy The Good Boss (El buen patrón) written and directed by Fernando León de Aranoa and starring Javier Bardem, Manolo Solo, Almudena Amor, Fernando Albizu and Óscar de la Fuente. The film’s original music is composed by Zeltia Montes (Adiós, Traces of Sandalwood, Sad Hill Unearthed). Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last fall when the movie opened overseas. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the comedy drama Funny Pages directed by Owen Kline and starring Daniel Zolghadri, Matthew Mahe, Maria Dizzia, Andy Milonakis and Josh Pais. Sean O’Hagan (Copacabana, Paris Follies, La Vie d’Artiste) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which follows a high school student and aspiring cartoonist who finds an unwilling teacher and unwitting friend in a former underground comic legend, premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is being released by A24.
