Kris Bowers (BridgertonGreen Book, King Richard, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Inventing Anna, Mrs. America, Dear White People) has composed the original score the upcoming historical drama Chevalier. The film is directed by Stephen Williams (Watchmen, True Story) and stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Samara Weaving, Lucy Boynton and Minnie Driver. The movie tells the true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner who rose to heights in the 18th century French society. Stefani Robinson (What We Do in the Shadows) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the Element Pictures production with Dianne McGunigle (Atlanta) and Ed Guiney & Andrew Lowe (The FavouriteRoom). The drama will also feature original music by Michael Abels (Get Out, Nope, Us) who was hired prior to principal photography, with some of his music performed on screen. Chevalier will premiere next month at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival and is expected to be released in late 2022 or early 2023 by Searchlight Pictures.

Bowers also continues to score Netflix’s Bridgerton, which will return for a third season.
