Opening in theaters nationwide today is the supernatural horror movie Firestarter directed by Keith Thomas and starring Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Zac Efron, Sydney Lemmon, Kurtwood Smith, John Beasley, Michael Greyeyes and Gloria Reuben. The film’s original music is composed by John Carpenter (Assault on Precint 13ChristineThe Fog), Cody Carpenter & Daniel Davies (Halloween, Halloween Kills). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score today and Sacred Bones Records will release a physical version later this year. Also opening wide this weekend is the faith-based comedy Family Camp directed by Brian Cates and starring Tommy Woodward, Eddie James, Robert Amaya, Allyn Baker, Gigi Orsillo, Heather Land and Mark Christopher Lawrence. Nicholas Poss (AgnesClimate of the Hunter) has composed the film’s original score. Provident Label Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Rhett Walker, Kansas, Ben Kilgore and Caleb + Kelsey last month. Opening in select theaters is the drama Pleasure written and directed by Ninja Thyberg and starring Sofia Kappel, Revika Anne Reustle, Evelyn Claire, Chris Cock, Dana Dearmond and Kendra Spade. The film’s original music is composed by Karl Frid (Wild Nights with Emily, Alena, Crimes of Passion: Death of a Loved One, Citizen Schein). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening in select theaters is the drama Montana Story directed by Scott McGehee & David Siegel and starring Haley Lu Richardson, Owen Teague, Asivak Koostachin, Kimberly Guerrero, Gilbert Owuor and Eugene Brave Rock. Singer/songwriter Kevin Morby has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the comedic thriller On the Count of Three directed by Jerrod Carmichael and starring Carmichael himself, Christopher Abbott, J.B. Smoove, Tiffany Haddish, Lavell Crawford and Henry Winkler. The film’s original music is composed by Owen Pallett (HerSpaceship Earth, The Box, Life). No word on a soundtrack release. Pessi Levanto (Tears of April, Oma maa, The MidwifeUnexpected Journey) has composed the film’s original music. MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last summer when the movie opened overseas.
