Composer Stephen McKeon (Pilgrimage, Queen & Country, Norm of the North, Rose Plays Julie, My Name Is Emily) is reuniting with director Lee Cronin on the upcoming supernatural horror movie Evil Dead Rise. The film is written and directed by Cronin and stars Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Mia Challos, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies and Nell Fisher. The fifth installment in the Evil Dead franchise follows two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival. Ghost House Pictures’ Robert Tapert (Don’t Breathe, The Grudge) is producing the New Line Cinema production. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and actor Bruce Campbell serve as executive producers. McKeon has previously scored Cronin’s first feature, The Hole in the Ground. The director has shared photos from the recent recording sessions of the score on Twitter. Joseph LoDuca has previously scored the original Evil Dead movies and the Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead, while Roque Banos has composed the music for the 2013 reboot. Evil Dead Rise will premiere in the U.S. this year on HBO Max and will receive a theatrical release in the UK and France.

McKeon’s other recent projects include Brendan Muldowney’s horror movie The Cellar starring Elisha Cuthbert & Eoin Macken. The movie, which premiered at this year’s FrightFest Glasgow and SXSW Film Festival, will be released in select theaters on and VOD this Friday, April 15 by RLJE Films.
