Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the superhero movie The Batman co-written and directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz,  Jeffrey Wright, Paul Dano, John Turturro, Andy Serkis, Peter Sarsgaard, Jayme Lawson and Colin Farrell. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Giacchino (UpLost, Jurassic World, Star TrekSpider-Man: No Way Home, The IncrediblesRatatouille, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last week. Check out our previous article for the full album details and to learn more about the Warner Bros. Opening in select theaters while also premiering on Showtime today is the sci-fi drama After Yang written and directed by Kogonada and starring Colin Farrell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Sarita Choudhury, Justin H. Min, Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja, Clifton Collins Jr. and Haley Lu Richardson. Aska Matsumiya (Skate Kitchen, Bruised,  BettyI’m Your WomanSelah and the Spades) has composed the film’s original score and Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last EmperorThe RevenantMerry Christmas Mr. LawrenceLittle Buddha).  has contributed an original theme. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the thriller Huda’s Salon written and directed by Hany Abu-Assad and starring Maisa Abd Elhadi, Ali Suliman and Manal Awad. The film’s original music is composed by Jeffrey van Rossum (The Columnist). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which revolves around a young mother whose visit to a hair salon turns into a nightmare when she is blackmailed by its owner and forced to fight for her family’s survival, is being distributed in the U.S. by IFC Films.

Opening in a single theater today while also premiering on Netflix this week is the thriller The Weekend Away directed by Kim Farrant and starring Leighton Meester, Christina Wolfe, Ziad Bakri, Iva Mihalić, Luke Norris, Amar Bukvić, Adrian Pezdirc and Parth Thakerar. Daniel Wohl (Project Blue BookSearch Party, They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead, The Stand In). has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced.
