John Debney (The Jungle Book, The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf, The Emperor’s New Groove) is set to return as the composer of the upcoming Disney+ original movie Hocus Pocus 2. The film will be directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses, Step Up) and will star Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker & Kathy Najimy who are reprising their roles of the Sanderson Sisters. The sequel follows three young women who accidentally bring the trio back to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world. Lynn Harris (The Notebook, The Shallows) is producing the project. Debney’s original score for the 1993 original movie has recently been released digitally for the first time. Hocus Pocus 2 is set to start shooting this fall and is expected to premiere in late 2022 on Disney+.

Debney’s other upcoming feature projects include Disney+’s Home Sweet Home Alone, Walt Becker’s Clifford the Big Red Dog, the Erwin Brothers’ American Underdog and Kat Coiro’s Marry Me.
