Walt Disney Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1996 animated feature The Hunchback of Notre Dame directed by Gary Trousdale & Kirk Wise and starring Tom Hulce, Demi Moore, Tony Jay, Kevin Kline, Jason Alexander, Paul Kandel, Charles Kimbrough, Mary Wickes and David Ogden Stiers. The Legacy Collection release coincides with the movie’s 25th anniversary and features the original songs from the film written by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted, Tangled) and featuring lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (The Prince of Egypt, Wicked), as well as the remastered original score by Menken, including previously unreleased music. Also included are never before released demo recordings of the songs performed by Menken, Schwartz & others. The 2-CD set will be coming out on September 22 and is now available for pre-order on the Disney Music Emporium website. A digital version will be available to stream/download here. Walt Disney Records has previously released the 16-tracks 1996 original soundtrack featuring the film’s songs and selections of Menken’s score (click here to purchase the CD and stream/download the album).

Finally: One of Menken´s best scores gets a long-deserved expanded album treatment.

  3. JackS says:

    This soundtrack is a masterpiece!

  4. Michael Kurland says:

One of the best of Alan Menken’s works for Disney now available in its entirety. To quote the gargoyle Hugo, “All right! All Right!”

  5. Jose says:

The “And He Shall Smite The Wicked” track lacks the part of the music near the end where Frollo falls into the fire and dies?? Why is nobody commenting on this? It bothers me so much why it was omitted. Did they forget to? Or is it too dark to be included?
