Dickon Hinchliffe (Leave No Trace, Winter’s Bone, Locke, Out of the Furnace, Peaky Blinders, Last Chance Harvey) has composed the original music for the upcoming drama The Lost Daughter. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actress Maggie Gyllenhaal and stars Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Dakota Johnson, Peter Sarsgaard, Paul Mescal, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ed Harris and Dagmara Domińczyk. The movie is based on the 2006 novel of the same title by Elena Ferrante and revolves around a woman whose beach vacation takes a dark turn when she begins to confront the troubles of her past. Gyllenhaal also wrote the screenplay and is producing the Endeavor Content production with Pie Films’ Talia Kleinhendler & Osnat Handelsman-Keren (The Kindergarten Teacher), as well as Samuel Marshall Films’ Charles Dorfman (Death of Me). The Lost Daughter will premiere next month in competition at the 2021 Venice Film Festival and will debut in the U.S. and other markets on Netflix.
