Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the adventure comedy Free Guy directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer,  Lil Rel Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Taika Waititi. The film’s original score is composed by Christophe Beck (FrozenAnt-Man,WandaVisionThe HangoverThe Peanuts MovieEdge of TomorrowBuffy the Vampire Slayer). Hollywood Records has released two soundtrack albums featuring the songs from the movie and the composer’s score earlier this week. Also opening wide is the biographical drama Respect directed by Liesl Tommy and starring Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Audra McDonald, Hailey Kilgore, Saycon Sengbloh, Skye Dakota Turner and Mary J. Blige. Kris Bowers (Green BookBridgertonSpace Jam: A New Legacy, Dear White PeopleMrs. America) has composed the film’s original score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Check out our previous article for the full album details. Also opening nationwide is the horror sequel Don’t Breathe 2 co-written and directed by Rodo Sayagues, produced by Fede Alvarez and starring Stephen Lang, Brendan Sexton III and Madelyn Grace. The film’s original music is composed by Roque Banos (The MachinistEvil DeadIn the Heart of the SeaThe Girl in the Spider’s WebSexy BeastCome Play) who previously scored the original 2016 movie. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be released by Lakeshore Records. Opening in select U.S. theaters is the Chilean drama Ema directed by Pablo Larraín and starring Mariana Di Girolamo, Gael García Bernal,  Santiago Cabrera, Paola Giannini and Cristián Suárez. Nicolas Jaar (DheepanBeginning) has composed the film’s original music. Other People has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and two songs today. Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the Chinese/Hong Kong thriller Raging Fire directed by Benny Chan and starring Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse and Qin Lan. The film’s original music is composed by Nicolas Errèra (ShaolinHidden ManAdoring, The Extraordinary Journey of the FakirMountain Cry). No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Another movie opening in select U.S. theaters is the French comedy drama White as Snow (Blanche comme neige) co-written and directed by Anne Fontaine and starring Lou de Laage, Isabelle Huppert, Charles Berling, Jonathan Cohen, Damine Bonnard, Richard Frechette and Vincent Macaigne. Bruno Coulais (CoralineThe ChorusThe Crimson Rivers, Wolfwalkers, The Secret of Kells) has composed the film’s original music. Gaumont has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score back in 2019 when the movie opened in France. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the Australian/Canadian family adventure Buckley’s Chance directed by Tim Brown and starring Bill Nighy, Victoria Hill, Kelton Pell, Milan Burch and Martin Sacks. The film’s original music is composed by Christopher Gordon (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, CrawlOn the Beach, DaybreakersMoby DickAdore). The composer has released a soundtrack album featuring his score earlier this year when the movie opened in Australian theaters. Opening in select theaters and on Apple TV+ today is the drama CODA written and directed by Sian Heder and starring Emilia Jones, Eugenio Derbez, Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Troy Kotsur, Daniel Durant and Marlee Matlin. Marius de Vries (Kick-Ass, Strange Magic, Sucker Punch, Teen SpiritEasy Virtue) has composed the film’s original music. Republic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, the songs from the movie performed by the movie’s cast, as well as Etta James,  Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrel, The Clash & others. Already playing in select theaters and streaming on Hulu since yesterday is the documentary Homeroom directed by Peter Nicks about the lives of Oakland High School’s class of 2020.  The film’s original music is composed by Mike Tuccillo (Love Life, Ramy, Shot in the DarkOut of Omaha). Dan Romer (Luca, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation, Beasts of the Southern Wild) serves as the project’s executive music producer. The movie also features an original song by Goapele feat. Rexx Life Raj. Already playing in select U.S. theaters and streaming on Netflix since this past Wednesday is the documentary Misha and the Wolves directed by Sam Hobkinson about a woman’s dramatic memoir of surviving the Holocaust. Nick Foster (Thunderbirds Are Go, CuckooYear of the Rabbit, The A List) has composed the film’s original music. MovieScore Media’s new sublabel Reality Bytes will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score next month.
