Record producer/songwriter Ariel Rechtshaid is making his television scoring debut on HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot. The show is developed by Joshua Safran and stars Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Zion Moreno, Evan Mock, Whitney Peak and Savannah Lee Smith. Rob Lowry serves as the music supervisor of the series, which centers on new generation of New York private school teens as they are being introduced to social surveillance nine years after the original blogger’s website went dark. Safran (Smash, Quantico) is also executive producing the Fake Empire & Alloy Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television & CBS Studios production with Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Dynasty), Leslie Morgenstein (You, Pretty Little Liars) and Gina Girolamo (Legacies). Rechtshaid who has received three Grammy Awards for music [roduction and has collaborated with artists such as Vampire Weekend, Usher Kelela, Adele, Sky Ferreira, among others, has previously co-written an original song for last year’s The Croods: A New Age with HAIM. Transcenders have scored all episodes of the original Gossip Girl series. The Gossip Girl reboot will premiere tomorrow, July 8 exclusively on HBO Max.
