Academy Announces Updates Rules in Music Categories

The Academy’s Board of Governors has approved rules and campaign regulations for the 94th Academy Awards, including two changes in the music categories. In the Original Score category, “for a score to be eligible, it must comprise a minimum of 35% of the total music in the film, lowered from 60%” and in the Original Song category, “no more than five songs from any one film may be submitted.” Submission deadline for both categories has been set for Monday, November 1, 2021.
