Five new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the Saw reboot Spiral directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and starring Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols. The film’s original score is composed by Charlie Clouser (Resident Evil: ExtinctionNumbers, Death Sentence) who has written the music for all previous Saw movies. Also opening wide is the thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead directed by Taylor Sheridan and starring Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Hoult, Finn Little, Medina Senghore, Tyler Perry, Aiden Gillen, Jake Weber and Jon Bernthal. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3Furious 7Avengers: Age of UltronCrazy Rich Asians,  Yellowstone, Thor: The Dark World) has composed the film’s original music. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last week. Also opening nationwide today is the romantic drama Finding You written and directed by Brian Baugh and starring Rose Reid, Jedidiah Goodacre, Katherine McNamara, Tom Everett Scott, Patrick Bergin, Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Vanessa Redgrave. The film’s original music is composed by Timothy Williams (BrightburnWalking with the Enemy, We Summon the DarknessWild Horses) & Kieran Kiely (Kiss KissImmortal). Another movie opening nationwide this week is the thriller Profile co-written and directed by Timur Bekmambetov and starring Valene Kane, Shazad Latif, Christine Adams, Amir Rahimzadeh and Morgan Watkins. The movie doesn’t feature an original score. Andy Ross serves as the project’s music supervisor. The film follows an undercover British journalist in her quest to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter through social media, while trying not to be become a militant extremist herself. The thriller premiered at the 2018 Berlin and SXSW Film Festivals and is being released by Focus Features.

Opening in around 600 theaters today before premiering on Netflix on May 21 is the zombie thriller Army of the Dead directed by Zack Snyder and starring Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo andSamantha Win. Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury RoadDeadpoolGodzilla vs. Kong, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Alita: Battle Angel) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and Richard Cheese’s & Allison Crowe’s cover of Viva Las Vegas. Click here for the full album details.

Opening in limited release today is the Saudi Arabian drama The Perfect Candidate co-written and directed by Haifaa Al Mansour and starring Mila Alzahrani, Dhay, Khalid Abdulrhim and Shafi Al Harthy. The film’s original music is composed by Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, Your Honor, Stowaway, Ammonite, Patrick Melrose). No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which follows a determined young doctor who runs for city council after the male incumbent repeatedly ignores her request to fix the muddy road leading to her clinic, premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival and is being released in the U.S. by Music Box Films.

Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the British comedy The Man in the Hat co-written and directed by composer Stephen Warbeck & John Paul Davidson and starring Ciarán Hinds, Stephen Dillane and Maïwenn. Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Billy Elliott, Quills, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin) has also composed the film’s original music. MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last fall when the movie opened in the UK and Quartet Records has released a CD version earlier this year. Also opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the horror thriller The Djinn written and directed by David Charbonier & Justin Powell and starring Ezra Dewey, Rob Brownstein, Donald Pitts, Tevy Poe and John Erickson. The film’s original music is composed by Matthew James (ArkansasUseless Humans). MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Another movie opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the documentary Us Kids directed by Kim A. Snyder about the March For Our Lives movement, the largest youth protest in American history. Fil Eisler (Revenge, Thunder Force, Empire, Superintelligence, UnReal) & Brian Reitzell (Hannibal, 30 Days of Night, Stranger Than Night, Friday Night Lights, American Gods) have composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being distributed by Greenwich Entertainment. Visit the official movie website for more information.

Also opening in select theaters today before coming out on VOD on Tuesday, May 18 is Christoph Waltz’s directorial debut Georgetown starring Waltz himself, Vanessa Redgrave, Annette Bening, Corey Hawkins and Laura de Carteret. The film’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, His Dark Materials, The LEGO Batman Movie, Bad Boys for Life, Genius, Home, Terminator Genisys). No soundtrack album has been announced.
