Opening in theaters nationwide today is the spy thriller The Courier directed byDominic Cooke and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel Brosnahan, Jessie Buckley and Merab Ninidze. The film’s original music is composed by Abel Korzeniowski (A Single Man, Penny Dreadful, Nocturnal Animals, The Nun, W.E.Romeo and Juliet).. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening semi-wide in around 550 theaters is the crime thriller City of Lies directed by Brad Furman and starring Johnny Depp, Forest Whitaker, Rockmond Dunbar, Shea Whigham, Xander Berkeley,  Neil Brown Jr., Wynn Everett, Louis Herthum, Toby Huss and Shamier Anderson. Chris Hajian (The Infiltrator, The Take, Woody Woodpecker, Critical Thinking) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the comedic thriller Happily written and directed by BenDavid Grabinski and starring Joel McHale, Kerry Bishé, Stephen Root, Natalie Morales,Paul Scheer, Natalie Zea, Breckin Meyer, Charlyne Yi and Kirby Howell Baptiste. The film’s original music is composed by Joseph Trapanese (OblivionStraight Outta Compton,  The Raid: Redemption, The Greatest ShowmanProject Power, Lady and the Tramp). Waxwork Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in select theaters and on VOD is the comedy Last Call co-written and directed by Paolo Pilladi and starring Jeremy Piven, Bruce Dern, Taryn Manning, Jamie Kennedy, Jack McGee, Cathy Moriarty, Zach McGowan and Cheri Oteri. Jon Natchez (The Climb, BOO!, Pledge, Cubby) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a successful developer who returns to the blue-collar Philly neighborhood of his youth to face a crossroads, is being released by IFC Films.

Opening in select U.S. theaters and in virtual cinemas is the Irish psychological thriller Rose Plays Julie written and directed by Christine Molloy & Joe Lawlor and starring Ann Skelly, Orla Brady, Aidan Gillen, Catherine Walker, Annabell Rickerby, Joanne Crawford, Alan Howley and Sadie Soverall. The film’s original music is composed by Stephen McKeon (PilgrimageThe Hole in the GroundNorm of the North). Moonflower Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year. Also opening in select theaters and in virtual cinemas is the documentary Wojnarowicz directed by Chris McKim about the New York painter, photographer, musician and writer David Wojnarowicz who emerged in the 1980s as an internationally known firebrand. The movie features music by Wojnarowicz’s New York-based band 3 Teens Kill 4. World of Wonder Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the band’s music from the movie today.
