Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the action horror thriller Shadow in the Cloud directed by Roseanne Liang and starring ChloĆ« Grace Moretz, Nick Robinson, Beulah Koale, Taylor John Smith, Callan Mulvey, Joe Witkowski, Benedict Wall and Byron Coll. The film’s original music is composed by Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper (The Legend of Baron To’a, Housebound, Fantail). No soundtrack album has been announced yet. The movie, which follows a female WWII pilot traveling with top secret documents on a B-17 Flying Fortress who encounters an evil presence on board the flight, premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is being released by Vertical Entertainment.

Already playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday, December 30, is the drama Pieces of a Woman directed by Kornel Mundruczo and starring Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, Ellen Burstyn, Molly Parker, Sarah Snook, Iliza Shlesinger, Benny Safdie and Jimmie Fails. Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Silence of the Lambs, The Departed, Hugo, The Aviator, The Hobbit) has composed the film’s original music. Also already playing in select cities since Wednesday before premiering on Amazon Prime on January 8 is the drama Herself directed by Phyllida Lloyd and starring Clare Dunne, Harriet Walter and Conleth Hill. The film’s original score is composed by Natalie Holt (Journey’s End, Knightfall, Press). The movie, which revolves around a single-mother who escapes her abusive partner with her two young children, only to find herself trapped in temporary accommodation, premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Amazon Studios for worldwide distribution.
