The full details of the jazz album for Pixar’s animated movie Soul have been announced. The album features the original jazz compositions and arrangements from and inspired by the film by Grammy Award nominee Jon Batiste. Also included is his cover of the Curtis Mayfield classic It’s All Right. The soundtrack will be released on vinyl on December 18 (visit Amazon to pre-order). A digital version featuring both the jazz tracks and Trent Reznor’s & Atticus Ross score, which is being released separately on vinyl, will be coming out on the same day. Soul is directed by Pete Docter and stars Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Daveed Diggs. The movie follows a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town, when he is taken from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. The animated feature will premiere on December 25 on Disney+.
