David Wingo (Take ShelterMud, Midnight Special, The Report, Kidding, Loving) has composed the original score for the new HBO Max docu-series Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults. The show is directed by Clay Tweel (Gleason, Finders Keepers) and examines the infamous UFO cult through the eyes of its former members and loved ones. The 4-parter uses never-before-seen footage and first-person accounts to explore the cult that started in 1975 with the disappearance of 20 people from a small town in Oregon and ended in 1997 with the largest suicide on US soil. Tweel is also executive producing the CNN, Campfire and Stitcher production with Ross Dinerstein (The Pact, 6 Balloons), Shannon Riggs, Chris Bannon, Eric Spiegelman, Peter Clowney and Erik Diehn. Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults will premiere this coming Thursday, December 3 exclusively on HBO Max.

Wingo also continues to score HBO’s Barry, for which he received his first Emmy Award nomination last year. The show is expected to return for its third season in 2021.
