Composer Will Bates is reuniting with director Mike Cahill on the upcoming sci-fi drama Bliss. The film is written and directed by Cahill and stars Salma Hayek, Owen Wilson, Madeline Zima, Jorge Lendenborg Jr., Joshua Leonard and DeRon Horton. The movie follows a recently divorced man – whose life is falling apart – as he meets a woman who lives on the streets and is convinced that the polluted, broken world around them is not real. James D. Stern (Looper, I’m Not There, The Brothers Bloom) is producing the Endgame Entertainment production. Bates has previously collaborated with Cahill on his last two features, I Origins and Another Earth, as well as on several TV shows including The Path, The Magicians, Rise and Nightflyers. Bliss is expected to premiere later this year and will be distributed by Amazon Studios.

Bates’ other recent feature projects include John Swab’s Run with the Hunted, which has recently been picked up by Vertical Entertainment for a domestic release later this year.

Was there any word on the progress of post-production? Any hints on whether they are still trying to release it this year?
