Director Nia DaCosta has revealed in a recent interview with Fandom that experimental musician Robert A. A. Lowe (aka Lichens) is composing the music for the upcoming Candyman sequel. The film starring Tahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Colman Domingo is based on the Philip Glass-scored 1992 feature of the same title written by Bernard Rose and the short story The Forbidden by Clive Barker and returns to the now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend began. DaCosta (Little Woods) also co-wrote the screenplay with Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) & Win Rosenfeld (Hunters, The Twilight Zone). Peele and Rosenfeld are also producing the Metro Goldwyn Mayer Picture production with Ian Cooper. Lowe has previously scored Kevin Barker’s 2012 feature Last Kind Words and also contributed vocals to Johann Johannsson’s scores for Sicario and ArrivalCandyman will be released in theaters nationwide on June 12, 2020 by Universal Pictures.
