92nd Academy Awards Nominations Announced

oscars9 This morning, the nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards were announced. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2019 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and televised live on the ABC Television Network. Here are the music-related nominations:

Best Original Score:

          • 1917 – Thomas Newman
          • Joker – Hildur Gudnadottir
          • Little Women – Alexandre Desplat
          • Marriage Story – Randy Newman
          • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – John Williams

        Best Original Song:

          • I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away From Toy Story 4, Music and Lyric by Randy Newman
          • (I’m  Gonna) Love Me Again From Rocketman, Music by Elton John, Lyric by Bernie Taupin
          • I’m Standing with You From Breakthrough, Music and Lyric by Diane Warren
          • Into the Unknown From Frozen II, Music and Lyric by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez
          • Stand Up From Harriet, Music and Lyric by Joshuah Brian Campbell and Cynthia Erivo

Among the score composers, John Williams received his 52nd Oscar nomination, Thomas Newman earned his 15th nomination and Alexandre Desplat was honored with his 11th nomination. Marc Shaiman has previously been nominated 20 times (eight times in the Original Score category and twelve in the Original Song category). Hildur Gudnadottir is the only first time nominee.

    hildur already won 11 best score awards for joker. the other nominees don’t even need to go to the show. she’s guaranteed to win.
