Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the action adventure Jumanji: The Next Level directed by Jake Kasdan and starromh Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Danny Glover and Danny DeVito. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil WarX-Men: First ClassWreck-It-Ralph). Also opening wide is the drama Richard Jewell directed by Clint Eastwood starring Paul Walter Hauser, Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm and Olivia Wilde. Arturo Sandoval (The Mule, For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story, At Middleton) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album is expected to be released. Also opening nationwide is the horror thriller Black Christmas co-written and directed by Sophia Takal and starring Imogen Poots, Aleyse Shannon, Lily Donoghue, Brittany O’Grady, Caleb Eberhardt, Simon Mead and Carl Elwes. The film’s original music is composed by Will Blair & Brooke Blair(Green RoomHold the DarkThe InformerI Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore). Opening in Los Angeles and New York before expanding nationwide next week is the drama Bombshell directed by Jay Roach and starring Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, John Lithgow, Kate McKinnon, Malcolm McDowell and Allison Janney. Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears PradaTropic ThunderGhostbusters) has composed the film’s original music. Also opening in limited release is the drama A Hidden Life directed by Terrence Malick and starring August Diehl, Valerie Pachner, Maria Simon, Bruno Ganz, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Ulrich Matthes. The film’s original music is composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger GamesThe Sixth Sense, King KongFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them). Also opening in select theaters is the comedy drama Uncut Gems written and directed by Josh & Benny Safdie and starring Adam Sandler, Lakeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, Kevin Garnett, Idina Menzel and Eric Bogosian, Judd Hirsch. Receiving an awards-qualifying release this week is the thriller Seberg directed by Benedict Andrews and starring Kristen Stewart, Jack O’Connell, Margaret Qualley, Zazie Beetz, Vince Vaughn and Anthony Mackie. The film’s original music is composed by Jed Kurzel (Alien: CovenantMacbethAssassin’s CreedThe BabadookThe Mustang). Also opening in select cities is the drama The Death & Life Of John F. Donovan co-written and directed by Xavier Dolan and starring Kit Harington, Natalie Portman, Jacob Tremblay, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Thandie Newton, Ben Schnetzer, Emily Hampshire and Sarah Gadon. Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Judy, Cold Mountain) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, is being released in theaters and on VOD by Momentum Pictures.

Another limited release this week is the thriller Mob Town directed by Danny A. Abeckaser and starring David Arquette, Jennifer Esposito, Abeckaser himself, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and PJ Byrne. Lionel Cohen (First We Take Brooklyn) has composed the film’s original music. DNA-Productions has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last month.
