Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, Home, Terminator Genisys, Genius) is currently scoring the upcoming action sequel Bad Boys for Life. The film is directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah (Gangsta) and stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton and Joe Pantoliano. The movie follows Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett as they attempt to take down Armando Armas, head of a drug cartel. Peter Craig (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, The Town), Joe Carnahan (Narc, The A-Team) and Chris Bremmer wrote the screenplay. Jerry Bruckheimer (Armageddon, Top Gun) and Doug Belgrad (Charlie’s Angels, L.A.’s Finest) are producing the project. Balfe has previously scored the Bruckheimer-produced feature 12 Strong, as well as the upcoming Gemini Man (to be released on October 4), which also stars Will Smith. The original Michael Bay-directed 1995 Bad Boys movie was scored by Mark Mancina and its 2003 sequel was scored by Trevor Rabin (with additional music by Steve Jablonsky). Bad Boys for Life is set to be released on January 17, 2020 by Sony Pictures.

Balfe’s other upcoming projects also include  Michael Bay’s 6 Underground (to be released this December) and Peter Cattaneo’s Military Wives (premiering in September at the Toronto Film Festival).

Not Mancina, not Glennie-Smith, not even Rabin? Well, at least they chose a MV/RC composer. Talk about continuity… 😛

  2. Justin says:

The Balfe Resign of Terror continues. He’s trying top usurp the title from Brian Tyler!
