Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar. The film’s original score is composed by Alan Menken (Beauty and the BeastThe Little Mermaid). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as all songs from movie, including a new song written by Menken and featuring lyrics by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. Also opening wide is the coming-of-age comedy Booksmart directed by Olivia Wilde and starring Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein, Jessica Williams, Will Forte, Lisa Kudrow and Jason Sudeikis. Hip hop producer Dan the Automator has composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score. Also opening nationwide is the horror thriller Brightburn directed by David Yarovesky, produced by James Gunn and starring Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones, Meredith Hagner. The film’s original music is composed by Timothy Williams (Walking with the EnemyI.T.Red SkyWild HorsesDiablo). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Already playing in limited release since this past Wednesday is the romantic drama The Tomorrow Man directed by Noble Jones and starring John Lithgow, Blythe Danner, Derek Cecil, Katie Aselton, Sophie Thatcher and Eve Harlow. Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd, Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, Dynasty, Designated Survivor) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by Bleecker Street.

Also opening in limited release is the documentary Echo in the Canyon directed by Andrew Slater. The movie doesn’t feature an original score. BMG has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from and inspired the film by The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas and more, as interpreted by artists from the movie including Fiona Apple, Beck, Cat Power, Eric Clapton, Norah Jones, Regina Spektor, Stephen Stills, Neil Young & others. Also opening in select theaters is the horror thriller Isabelle directed by Rob Heydon and starring Adam Brody, Amanda Crew, Zoe Belkin and Sheila McCarthy. The film’s original music is composed by Mark Korven (The Witch, Cube, The Lighthouse, Our House). No word on a soundtrack release. Also opening in select cities is the documentary Halston directed by Frédéric Tcheng about America’s first superstar fashion designer. Stanley Clarke (Boyz n the HoodPassenger 57The TransporterThe Best Man) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is in the works from Node Records and will be announced soon.
