Javier Navarrete has been tapped to score the upcoming supernatural horror thriller Antlers. The film is directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Out of the Furnace) and stars Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jeremy T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Amy Madigan, Scott Haze and Rory Cochrane. The movie follows a small-town Oregon teacher and her brother, the local sheriff, as they become entwined with a young student harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences. Nick Antosca (The Act, Channel Zero) and Henry Chaisson wrote the screenplay (with revisions by Cooper) based Antosca’s short story The Quiet Boy. Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pacific Rim) is producing the Fox Searchlight production with David Goyer (Batman Begins, Blade) and J. Miles Dale (Mama, The Strain). Navarrete (Wrath of the Titans, Greta, Inkheart) has previously scored the del Toro-directed features The Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth, for which he received his first Academy Award. Antlers is currently in post-production and expected to premiere later this year.

As previously reported, Navarrete also has the historical drama Emperor starring Dayo Okeniyi, James Cromwell, Bruce Dern & Naturi Naughton coming up.
