Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for Kenneth Branagh’s drama All Is True. The album features the film’s original music composed by Patrick Doyle (Thor, Brave, Murder on the Orient Express, Sense and Sensibility, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), including the end credits song Fear No More performed by Abigail Doyle. The soundtrack will be released on February 8 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. All Is True starring Branagh, Judi Dench and Ian McKellen is set in 1613 and follows William Shakespeare as he returns to Stratford after his renowned Globe Theatre burns to the ground, where he must face a troubled past and a neglected family. Beautiful music with soft piano and quiet stings; touching song “Fear no more” with lyrics from “Cymbeline” by Shakespeare. Another great work done by brilliant duet Brannagh/Doyle.
I am doing my best to refrain from overusing an excessive amount of superlatives but I loved the movie and especially the score. The tender melodies were a perfect match to the story line of Shakespeare’s last years, becoming reacquainted with this family, attempting to reconcile with his wife and his daughters, returning back to what it meant to live in the ‘human’ condition again. I fully realize it was mostly based on speculation since we lack the historical details of that period. Still, the gentle notes from Patrick Doyle’s piano accentuated every scene and event throughout the show, especially his daughter, Abigail’s rendition of “Fear No More” from Cymbeline continues to bring me to tears ever since I first heard it during the movie and listening to it over and over after I purchased the digital album.
