A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, The Hundred-Foot Journey) is reteaming with director Grinder Chadha on the upcoming British comedy drama Blinded by the Light. The film and stars Viveik Kalra, Hayley Atwell, Rob Brydon, Kulvinder Ghir, Nell Williams and Aaron Phagura. The movie is set 1987 during the austere days of Thatcher’s Britain and follows a teenager as he learns to live life, understand his family and find his own voice through the music of Bruce Springsteen. Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham, Bride & Prejudice) also co-wrote the screenplay with Sarfraz Manzoor & Paul Mayeda Berges and is producing the project with Jane Barclay and Jamal Daniel. Rahman has previously collaborated with Chadha on her last feature, Viceroy’s House. Blinded by the Light will premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival.

Rahman has also recently scored S. Shankar’s Indian sci-fi action movie 2.0, which is currently playing in Indian and select U.S. theaters.
