Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (Stranger Things) have been tapped to score the upcoming drama Native Son. The film is directed by Rashid Johnson and stars Ashton Sanders, Margaret Qualley, Nick Robinson, KiKi Layne, Bill Camp and Sanaa Lathan. The movie is based on Richard Wright’s novel of the same title and centers on a young African-American man named Bigger Thomas who takes a job working for a highly influential Chicago family, a decision that will change the course of his life forever. Suzan-Lori Parks (Girl 6) wrote the screenplay. Matthew Perniciaro and Michael Sherman (Skate Kitchen, Her Smell) are producing the project. Native Son will premiere next month in competition at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and is expected to be released later in 2019 by A24.

Dixon & Stein are also scoring the new National Geographic series Valley of the Boom, which will premiere on January 13, 2019. They are also returning to score the third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, which is set to debut in 2019.
