John Debney has recently scored the upcoming comedy The Beach Bum. The film is written and directed by Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers, Gummo) and stars Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, Isla Fisher, Jonah Hill, Jimmy Buffett and Snoop Dogg. The movie follows follows the misadventures of Moondog, a rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large. John Lesher (Birdman, Fury), Steve Golin (The Revenant, Spotlight), Charles-Marie Anthonioz, Mourad Belkeddar & Nicolas Lhermitte (Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot) are producing the project. No premiere date has been announced yet for The Beach Bum, which will be distributed in the U.S. by Neon.
Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book, Iron Man 2, Elf) also has Tom Shadyac’s drama Brian Banks starring Aldis Hodge & Greg Kinnear coming up. He also recently composed music for the EA video game Madden NFL 19. A soundtrack album for Longshot: Homecoming will be released on August 10 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
