Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Already in theaters since Thursday is the movie adaptation of Ready Player One directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tye Sheridan, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, Mark Rylance and Olivia Cooke. The film’s original music is composed  by Alan Silvestri (Back to the FutureForrest GumpThe Avengers). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the album details). The label has also released a separate soundtrack featuring a selection of songs from the movie (click here for more information).

Also opening nationwide is the thriller Acrimony written and directed by Tyler Perry and starring Taraji P. Henson, Lyriq Bent, Ajiona Alexus and Antonio Madison. Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses, Baywatch, Lost in Space, Supernatural) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a release of the score. Warner Bros. Records has released Andra Day’s cover of I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free from the movie today. Click here for more information.

Also opening wide is the faith-based drama God’s Not Dead: A Light In Darkness directed by Michael Mason and stars David A.R. White, John Corbett, Ted McGinley, Shane Harper, Jennifer Taylor, Benjamin Onyango, as well as Dr. Cissy Houston and Tatum O’Neal. The film’s original score is composed by Pancho Burgos-Goizueta. Dream Records has released a soundtrack album featuring songs from inspired by the movie by artists including Joel Vaughn, Mass Anthem, Matthew Parker & more. Opening in limited release is the mystery thriller Gemini written and directed by Aaron Katz and starring Lola Kirke, Zoe Kravitz and John Cho. Keegan DeWitt (I’ll See You in My DreamsThe HeroDivorceMorris from AmericaQueen of Earth) has composed the film’s original music. Also opening in limited release is the British romantic comedy Finding Your Feet directed by Richard Loncraine and starring Imelda Staunton, Timothy Spall, Celia Imrie, Joanna Lumley and David Haymanand. The film’s original score is composed by Michael McEvoy (Me and Orson WellesForget Me Not). Virgin Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by Elkie Brooks, Bill Haley & His Comet, Michael Jackson, Jamie Joseph & others, as well as a track by McEvoy. Also opening in select theaters is the drama The Last Movie Star written and directed by Adam Rifkin and starring Burt Reynolds, Ariel Winter, Ellar Coltrane, Clark Duke and Chevy Chase. Austin Wintory (Journey, Captain Abu Raed, A Little Help) has composed the film’s original score and John Martin & Jamie Floyd (aka Stranger Friends) have written and performed the original songs in the movie. Legacy Recordings has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs, as well as an original end title track written by Diane Warren & performed by Willie Nelson. Also opening in select cities is the indie drama Outside In co-written and directed by Lynn Shelton and starring Jay Duplass, Edie Falco, Kaitlyn Dever and Ben Schwartz. Singer/songwriter Andrew Bird (Norman) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release. Another limited release this week is the indie comedy Birthmarked directed by Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais and starring Toni Collette, Matthew Goode, Michael Smiley, Fionnula Flanagan and Suzanne Clément. The film’s original music is composed by Stephen Rennicks (RoomFrankRebellion). No soundtrack album has been announced. Also opening in limited release is the teen comedy Status Update directed by Scott Speer and starring Ross Lynch, Olivia Holt, Courtney Eaton, Rob Riggle, John Michael Higgins and Wendi McLendon-Covey. Jeff Cardoni (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, CSI: Miami, Silicon Valley, Young Sheldon, Speechless) has composed the film’s original score. The movie, which follows a teenager who stumbles upon a magical app that causes his social media updates to come true, is being released in theaters and on VOD by Vertical Entertainment.
