Anne Dudley has recently recorded her score for the BBC family comedy drama Grandpa’s Great Escape. The film is directed by Elliot Hegarty (The Bad Education Movie) and stars Tom Courtenay, Kit Connor, Jennifer Saunders, Samantha Spiro and David Walliams. The movie is based on an original book by Walliams and tells the story of a World War II flying ace who now suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and when his family can no longer look after him he is moved to an old people’s home called Twilight Tower. Jo Sargent (French and Saunders, Miranda) is executive producing the project and Charlie Leech (Lovesick) serves as the film’s producer. Grandpa’s Great Escape will premiere in the UK this holiday season on BBC.
Dudley (The Full Monty, The Crying Game, Elle, American History X) also continues to score BBC’s Poldark, which is expected to return for a fourth season in 2018.

According to “IMDb” it was used in “Empire of the Sun” because:
“The Welsh lullaby “Suo Gan” tells of a mother’s love for her child, telling him that she will keep him warm and safe, and nothing will threaten him. The movie’s plot revolves around Jim being separated from his mother and father at a young age, and having to survive numerous deadly dangers by his wits alone.”
This may be the same reason it is used in Grandpa’s Great Escape. Grandpa is telling Jack that he will always be there for him, even if he can’t see him.
