Duncan Thum has been hired to score the upcoming period drama The Iron Orchard. The film is directed by Ty Roberts and stars Lane Garrison, Austin Nichols, Ali Cobrin, Timothy Lee DePriest, Lew Temple, Allan McLeod, Temple Baker and Rooster McConaughey. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Tom Pendleton and tells the story of an unsophisticated and unskilled young man thrust into the brutal West Texas oilfields circa 1939, who ultimately becomes a formidable wildcatter. Gerry de Leon (Opening Night) wrote the screenplay. Houston Hill (Mercury Plains), Camille Scioli Chambers and George Sledge are producing the project. Thum is best known for his score for Netflix’s Chef’s Table, for which he received two Emmy Award nominations in 2015 & 2016. His other credits include the documentaries I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead and Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On, as well as the comedy The Wedding InvitationThe Iron Orchard is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2018.
