Mateo Messina has signed on to score the upcoming comedy The Pact. The film marks the directorial debut of writer/producer Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect, New Girl, Girlboss) and stars Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz and John Cena. The movie follows three parents who, upon discovering that their daughters have made a pact to lose their virginities on prom night, go out and try and stop them before it’s too late. Eben Russell, Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), and Brian & Jim Kehoe wrote the screenplay. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg & James Weaver (This Is the End, Neighbors) are producing the project with Hurwitz & Schlossberg and Chris Fenton (Chappaquiddick). The Pact will be released in theaters nationwide on April 6, 2018 by Universal Pictures.

Messina (Juno, Casual, Butter, Barely Lethal) is also scoring the third season of NBC’s Superstore, which will premiere on September 28 and continues to score Epix’s Graves, which will return for its second season on October 22. The composer has also recently been composing his symphony #20 (called EPOCH), which is premiering on November 10.
