Two movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the 40th anniversary re-release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Teri Garr, Melinda Dillon and Francois Truffaut. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Jaws). While Arista’s 1998 Collector’s Edition soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is still available digitally, a new limited soundtrack CD for the movie was announced this week and will be released by La-La Land Records. No word yet on a release date.

Also opening wide is the period drama Tulip Fever directed by Justin Chadwick and starring Alicia Vikander, Dan DeHaan, Christoph Waltz, Holliday Grainger, Jack O’Connell, Zach Galifianakis, Dame Judi Dench, Matthew Morrison, Tom Hollander and Cara Delevingne. Danny Elfman (BatmanSpider-Man, Alice in WonderlandA Nightmare Before Christmas) has composed the film’s original music. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Opening in around 380 theaters is the comedy Hazlo Como Hombre directed by Nicolás López and starring Aislinn Derbez, Mauricio Ochmann, Alfonso Dosal, Humberto Busto and Ignacia Allamand. The film’s original music is composed by Manuel Riveiro (The Green InfernoKnock Knock, Aftershock). Ponk Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening in limited release is the historical drama Viceroy’s House directed by Gurinder Chadha and starring Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Manish Dayal, Huma Qureshi, Om Puri, Michael Gambon, Simon Callow and Lily Travers. A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire127 HoursCouples RetreatThe Hundred-Foot Journey) has composed the film’s original music. Filmtrax has released a soundtrack album featuring the Academy Award-winning composer’s score. Also opening in select theaters is the comedy The Layover directed by William H. Macy and starring Alexandra Daddario, Kate Upton, Matt Barr, Matt Jones, Molly Shannon, Kal Penn and Rob Cordry. The film’s original music is composed by record producers/songwriters Leah Haywood Daniel James (also known as production team Dreamlab) and Rob Ellmore. Also opening in select cities is the thriller Unlocked directed by Michael Apted  and starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Douglas, Orlando Bloom, Toni Collette and John Malkovich. Stephen Barton (Jennifer’s BodyThe Six Wives of Henry Lefay, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Another limited release this weekend is the comedy sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers directed by Jay Baruchel and starring Seann William Scott, Alison Pill, Marc-André Grondin, Wyatt Russell, Callum Keith Rennie, Jason Jones, Baruchel himself, Elisha Cuthbert, Kim Coates and Liev Schreiber. The film’s original music is composed by Trevor Morris (Immortals, Vikings, Olympus Has Fallen, Castlevania, The Borgias). The movie is being released in theaters and on VOD by Momentum Pictures.

Also opening in limited release (following an awards-qualifying run in 2016 under the title Po) is the drama A Boy Called Po directed by John Asher and starring Christopher Gorham, Julian Feder and Kaitlin Doubleday. Burt Bacharach (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance KidCasino Royale) has composed the film’s original music. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Dancing With Your Shadow performed by Sheryl Crow and additional music by Joseph Bauer. Also opening in select theaters is the comedy I Do…Until I Don’t written directed by Lake Bell who also stars in the movie alongside Ed Helms, Dolly Wells, Amber Heard, Wyatt Cenac, Paul Reiser and Mary Steenburgen.
