Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Salma Hayek, Elodie Yung and Joaquim De Almeida. The film’s original score is composed by Atli Orvarsson (Vantage PointHansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as the songs from the movie by Lionel Ritchie, Foreigner, King Harvest, Chuck Berry, Samuel L. Jackson & more. Also opening wide is the crime comedy Logan Lucky directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Seth MacFarlane, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterson, Sebastian Stan, Hilary Swank, Daniel Craig and Dwight Yoakam. David Holmes (Ocean’s Eleven, Out of Sight, Haywire) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack featuring a score medley, as well as songs by John Denver, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Bo Diddley, John Fahey, The Groundhogs, LeAnn Rimes & more. Opening in limited release is the indie drama Patti Cake$ written and directed by Geremy Jasper and starring Danielle Macdonald, Bridget Everett, Cathy Moriarty, Siddharth Dhananjay, Mamoudou Athie, McCaul Lombardi, Sahr Ngaujah, Wass Stevens and MC Lyte. Jasper has also written the movie’s original songs and score with Jason Binnick . Republic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film. Opening in New York before expanding to more markets next weekend is the indie drama Crown Heights written and directed by Matt Ruskin and starring Lakeith Stanfield, Nnamdi Asomugha, Natalie Paul, Bill Camp, Nestor Carbonell and Amari Cheatom. The film’s original music is composed by Mark De Gli Antoni (Into the Abyss, Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired). No word on a soundtrack release. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by Amazon Studios and IFC Films. Visit the official movie website for more information.

Also opening in limited release is the indie drama Gook written and directed by Justin Chon and starring Simone Baker, David So, Curtiss Cook Jr., Sang Chon, Omono Okojie, Ben Munoz, Cesar Garcia, Isaiah Jarel and Kirlew Vilbon, as well as Chon himself. Roger Suen has composed the film’s original score. David Choi has contributed the original song Little More time to the movie and has released the track earlier this week. Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the Hong Kong action adventure The Adventurers directed by Stephen Fung and starring Andy Lau, Qi Shu, Jean Reno and David Bowles. The film’s original music is composed by Tuomas Kantelinen (Mongol: Rise of Genghis KhanMindhuntersThe Legend of Hercules). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in select cities is the sci-fi drama Marjorie Prime co-written and directed by Michael Almereyda based on Jordan Harrison’s Pulitzer-Nominated play and starring Jon Hamm, Geena Davis, Tim Robbins and Lois SmithMica Levi (JackieUnder the Skin) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by FilmRise.

Another limited release this week is the thriller Shot Caller written and directed by Ric Roman Waugh and starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Omari Hardwick, Lake Bell, Jon Bernthal, Emory Cohen, Jeffrey Donovan, Evan Jones, Benjamin Bratt and Holt McCallany. The film’s original music is composed by Antonio Pinto (City of God, Lord of WarMcFarland, USAAmy). Shot Caller follows a gangster recently released from prison who is forced to orchestrate a major crime on the streets of Southern California. The film is being released in theaters and on VOD by Saban Films.

Also opening in limited release is the indie comedy drama Lemon co-written and directed by Janicza Bravo and starring Brett Gelman, Judy Greer, Michael Cera, Nia Long, Shiri Appleby, Fred Melamed, Rhea Perlman, David Paymer, Gillian Jacobs, Martin Starr, Megan Mullally, Jeff Garlin and Marla Gibbs. Heather Christian has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The dramedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by Magnolia Pictures. Visit the official movie website to learn more about the film.
