Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) is set to score the upcoming Showtime and Sky Atlantic limited series Melrose. The show is developed by David Nicholls (Far from the Madding CrowdOne Day) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hugo Weaving, Anna Madeley and Allison Williams. The 5-parter is based on the Patrick Melrose series of semi-autobiographical novels written by Edward St. Aubyn and centers on the title character’s odyssey from a deeply traumatic childhood through adult substance abuse and, ultimately, toward recovery. Cumberbatch is also executive producing the project with Adam Ackland for SunnyMarch, alongside Rachael Horovitz (Moneyball, My Old Lady) and Michael Jackson for Two Cities Television. Melrose is expected to premiere in 2018 in the U.S. on Showtime and in the UK on Sky Atlantic.

Hauschka is also co-scoring the upcoming Cumberbatch-starring drama The Current War with Dustin O’Halloran. The composer who received his first Academy Award nomination for Lion earlier this year also has the features Hotel Mumbai starring Dev Patel and Ashes in the Snow starring Bel Powley coming up.
