Federico Jusid has been hired to score the upcoming crime drama Escobar. The film is directed by Fernando León de Aranoa (Mondays in the SunA Perfect Day) and stars Javier Bardem in the title role, alongside Penelope Cruz and Peter Sarsgaard. The movie tells the true story of the notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and focuses on an unlikely love affair with his polar opposite, a glamorous television host named Virginia Vallejo. León de Aranoa also wrote the screenplay based on Vallejo’s book Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar. Dean Nichols, Christa Campbell, Ed Cathell (Olympus Has Fallen) and Lati Grobman (Righteous Kill) are producing the project. No word yet on a release date for the movie.

Jusid whose previous scoring credits include The Secret In Their EyesMisconductThe Hunter’s PrayerIsabelThieves and Black Butterfly also has the features El último traje and Memorias del calabozo and the Spanish TV series El último traje coming up. The composer also scored the thriller Kidnap starring Halle Berry, which is opening in theaters nationwide this weekend.
