The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the sci-fi action sequel Transformers: The Last Knight directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Laura Haddock, Jerrod Carmichael, Isabela Moner, Peter Cullen and Anthony Hopkins. The film’s original music is composed by Steve Jablonsky (The Island, Deepwater Horizon, Ender’s Game, Desperate Housewives) who scored all previous four movies in the series. Opening in limited release this weekend before expanding nationwide in July is the romantic comedy The Big Sick directed by Michael Showalter, produced by Judd Apatow and starring Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, Ray Romano and Anupam Kher. Michael Andrews (Bridesmaids, Donnie Darko, Funny People) has composed the film’s original score. Also opening in limited release is the thriller The Beguiled written and directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard and Addison Riecke. The film’s music is composed by the French rock band Phoenix based on Monteverdi’s Magnificat. No word on a soundtrack release.
