Two movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

king-arthurOpening in most theaters is the action adventure King Arthur: Legend of the Sword directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law and Eric Bana. The film’s original music is composed by Daniel Pemberton (Steve JobsThe Man from U.N.C.L.E.The CounselorGold). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. snatchedAlso opening wide is the action comedy Snatched directed by Jonathan Levine, produced by Paul Feig and starring Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn, Joan Cusack, Ike Barinholtz, Wanda Sykes and Christopher Meloni. Theodore Shapiro (GhostbustersSpyThe Devil Wears Prada) and Chris Bacon (Bates MotelSource Code) have composed the film’s original music. the-wallOpening semi-wide in around 500 theaters is the dramatic thriller The Wall directed by Doug Liman and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, John Cena and Laith Nakli. The movie doesn’t feature any original score and no soundtrack will be released. The Wall follows two soldiers who get pinned down by an Iraqi sniper with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. The drama is being released by Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions. lowridersOpening in around 300 theaters is the drama Lowriders directed by Ricardo de Montreuil and starring Eva Longoria, Demián Bichir, Theo Rossi, Gabriel Chavarria, Melissa Benoist and Tony Revolori. The film’s original music is composed by Bryan Senti (ExperimenterKing JackLondon Town). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. paris-can-waitOpening in New York and Los Angeles before expanding to more markets to more markets within the next few weeks is the romantic comedy drama Paris Can Wait written and directed by Eleanor Coppola and starring Diane Lane, Arnaud Viard and Alec Baldwin. Laura Karpman (UndergroundBlack NativityStep) has composed the film’s original music. absolutely-anythingAlso opening in select U.S. theaters is the sci-fi comedy Absolutely Anything directed by Terry Jones and starring Simon Pegg, Kate Beckinsale, Ron Riggle and Robin Williams. The film’s original music is composed by George Fenton (Interview with the VampireGroundhog Day, Hitch). No soundtrack album has been announced. Absolutely Anything follows a disillusioned school teacher who suddenly finds he has the ability to do anything he wishes, a challenge bestowed upon him by power-crazed aliens. generation-iron-2Also opening in select cities is the documentary Generation Iron 2 directed by Vlad Yudin. Jeff Rona (White SquallExit WoundsPowersChicago HopeTraffic) who previously scored the original film has composed the movie’s original score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as two tracks by rapper Quan. the-drowningOpening in New York before opening in other markets within the next few weeks is the thriller The Drowning directed by Bette Gordon and starring Josh Charles, Julia Stiles, Avan Jogia, Tracie Thoms, John C. McGinley, Deborah Hedwall and Leo Fitzpatrick. The film’s original music is composed by Anton Sanko (Rabbit HoleBig LoveOuijaThe Possession). whisky-galoreAlso opening in limited release is the British comedy Whisky Galore! directed by Gillies MacKinnon and starring Gregor Fisher, Eddie Izzard, John Sessions, Fenella Woolgar, Tim Piggott-Smith and Sean Biggerstaff. Patrick Doyle (Sense and SensibilityHarry Potter and the Goblet of FireThor, Cinderella) has composed the film’s original score. Air-Edel Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the song Gairm na h-Oidche (Calling the Night) composed & performed by Mairi MacInnes and featuring lyrics by Abigail Doyle.
