‘American Epic’ Soundtracks Announced

american-epicLegacy Recordings, Columbia Records, Third Man Records nd Lomax Records have announced a number of soundtracks for the PBS docu-series American Epic. The releases include the 5-CD deluxe box set American Epic: The Collection, which features 100 songs from the show by artists including Mississippi John Hurt, The Carter Family, Charley Patton, Jimmie Rodgers, Lydia Mendoza & more, and is set to be released on May 12 (click here to pre-order), as well as American Epic: The Soundtrack, which features 15 songs and will be released digitally and physically on the same day (visit Amazon to pre-order). On June 9, the labels will release American Epic: The Sessions, produced by Jack White & T Bone Burnett, which features new recordings by modern artists including Alabama Shakes, Ashley Monroe, The Avett Brothers, Beck, Elton John, Los Lobos, Nas, Raphael Saadiq, Steve Martin & Edie Brickell and more (click here to pre-order). Finally, Third Man Records will release a triple LP version of The Sessions on 180 gram vinyl as well as 12″ audiophile vinyl versions on Jun 16. American Epic is produced by Allison McGourty, Duke Erikson & director Bernard MacMahon and explores the pivotal recording journeys at the height of the Roaring Twenties, when music scouts armed with cutting-edge recording technology captured the breadth of American music and discovered the artists that would shape our world.
