geniusPremiering on Tuesday, April 25, is National Geographic’s first scripted series Genius executive produced by Brian Grazer & Ron Howard and starring Geoffrey Rush, Johnny Flynn, Emily Watson, Nicholas Rowe, Samantha Colley, Jon Fletcher, Richard Topol and Alicia von Rittberg. Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman MovieHomeTerminator Genisys) is composing the show’s music and Hans Zimmer (Pirates of the CaribbeanInceptionGladiator) wrote the main titles theme. Milan Records will release a soundtrack EP for the show this Friday, April 28 and a full soundtrack album is in the works for a release later this year. handmaids-talePremiering on Wednesday, April 26, is the Hulu original series The Handmaid’s Tale created by Bruce Miller and starring Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer and O-T Fagbenle. The show’s original music is composed by Adam Taylor (Before I Fall, Meadowlands). Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Kris Bowers (Elaine Stritch: Shoot MeLittle Boxes) is composing the show’s original score. Dear White People follows a group of students of color who navigate the daily slights and slippery politics of life at an Ivy League college. The full first season of the show will available to stream this Friday on Netflix.

small-crimesAlso premiering on Friday is the Netflix original movie Small Crimes directed by Evan Katz and starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jacki Weaver, Robert Forster, Gary Cole, Molly Parker and Pat Healy. Will Blair Brooke Blair (Green RoomBlue RuinsI Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore) have composed the film’s original music. Wolfe and starring Oprah Winfrey, Rose Byrne, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Rocky Carroll, Courtney B. Vance, Reg E. Cathey, Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Leslie Uggams. The film’s original music is composed by Branford Marsalis who is best known for his work as a saxophonist.
