geostormLorne Balfe is scoring the upcoming action adventure Geostorm. The film is directed by Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate) and stars Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Daniel Wu, Ed Harris, Andy Garcia, Alexandra Maria Lara, Adepero Oduye, Amr Waked, Robert Sheehan and Eugenio Derbez. The movie takes place after an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatens the planet and the world’s leaders come together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. Dean Devlin also co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Guyot (The Librarians) and is producing the project with Skydance’s David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (Mission: Impossible – Rogue NationLife). Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean, Armageddon) serves as an executive producer on the project. Balfe has previously scored Skydance’s Terminator Genysis for Ellison & Goldberg. No word on whether on any music written by Pinar Toprak who originally composed a score for the film before extensive reshoots took place and Bruckheimer came on board will remain in the movie. Geostorm is set to be released on October 20, 2017 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Visit the official movie website for updates.

Balfe also has Rupert Sanders’ Ghost in the Shell, Jonathan Teplitzky’s Churchill, Nat Geo’s Genius, as well as the second season of Marcella coming up.
