lefty-brownH. Scott Salinas is composing the music for the upcoming western The Ballad of Lefty Brown. The film is written and directed by Jared Moshé (Dead Men’s Burden) and stars Bill Pullman, Kathy Baker, Jim Caviezel, Tommy Flanagan, Peter Fonda, Joe Anderson, Diego Josef, Michael Spears, Lewis Pullman and Joseph Anderson. The movie is set in 1889 after Congress declared the frontier closed and follows a 63 year old sidekick who confronts the ugly realities of frontier justice. Moshé is also producing the project with Edward Parks (Special), Neda Armian (Rachel Getting Married) and Dan Burks (Space Station 76). The Ballad of Lefty Brown will premiere next month at the SXSW Film Festival.

Salinas whose previous scoring credits include Cartel LandMurder in the FirstThe Square and The Ivory Game also recently co-scored the documentary City of Ghosts directed by Matthew Heineman. The movie, which chronicles the rise of ISIS, while documenting the courage of “Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently,” a group of citizen journalists who risk their lives to bring footage of terrorist atrocities in Syria to the wider world, premiered last month at the Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Amazon Studios for a release later this year. The composer also co-scored George Nolfi’s Bruce Lee biopic Birth of the Dragon, which premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and was recently picked up by BH Tilt and WWE Studios for a release later this year.
