jurassic-worldMichael Giacchino confirmed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he will be returning to score the currently untitled Jurassic World sequel. The film will be directed by J.A. Bayona and is set to star Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Justice Smith and. No plot details have been revealed yet. Colin Trevorrow who directed the first Jurassic World movie has written the screenplay with Derek Connolly (Safety Not Guaranteed). Frank Marshall (The Sixth Sense, Sully, Signs) is producing the project with Pat Crowley (Jason Bourne series, Eagle Eye) and Belén Atienza. Bayona has previously collaborated with composer Fernando Velazquez on all of his previous features, including The Orphanage, The Impossible and this year’s A Monster Calls. Jurassic World 2 will be released on June 22, 2018 by Universal Pictures.

Giacchino’s latest project, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is currently playing in theaters. The composer’s upcoming projects also include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes, Brad Bird’s The Incredibles 2 and Colin Trevorrow’s The Book of Henry.

  1. Jonathan says:

    OH, COME ON!

I was hoping that Fernando Velásquez would score this movie, given his previous collaborations with the directed. And I like Giacchino, but he seems to be everywhere these days!

    • Jonathan says:

      *with the director

      • BB says:

I confess I was expecting Velasquez here. But that was predictable. After all, Giacchino did a very competent job at first.

  2. 0B1W4N says:

    Great !
His score for the first one was excellent and very respectful of John Williams’s scores for the first and second movies.

  3. Spencer Mitchell says:

I don’t want Michael to score this sequel. To me, he didn’t do a good job scoring Jurassic World, because he didn’t reprise John Williams’ themes very often and when he did, he didn’t write them by himself when he should be.

I certainly think that J.A. Bayona’s usual composer Fernando Velázquez would be a better choice.

    • 0B1W4N says:

In his wonderful “The Lost World”, Williams himself didn’t reprise the theme of the first movie very much…

      • BB says:

Well, that’s your opinion. For me, Giacchino’s work at Jurassic World was very well balanced. He knew, perfectly, when and where to use the themes of Johnny Williams.

In addition, he brought a couple of new themes to the film. Giacchino was very inspired by JW, but did not stop being himself when writing the score.

I like Velasquez’s work, but it was to be expected that he would not be hired for this.

    this is going to suck

  5. Roger says:

    should of been hans zimmer

    • BB says:

“should of been hans zimmer” bla bla bla

      Shut the fuck up!

      • Roger says:

when you get an oscar for best score then i’ll consider your opinion

        • BB says:

“when you get an oscar for best score then i’ll consider your opinion”

          bla bla bla

And when you win an Oscar (best fanboy), maybe the producers will consider yours;)

          Shut the FUCK up!

          • Roger says:

            you mad bro?

Hans is a film legend. bow down ha!

        • Lokutus says:

And when did you get your best score Oscar? No reason to waste time with your idiotic comments then!

    • Lokutus says:

Sure… should have been Zimmer and zillion of his equally incompetent pets. In that case we would know for sure the score will suck.

      • Jason Hansen says:

No Lukuts, BB’s right. It’s Giacchino, who returns to compose the score for the sequel. Not Hans Zimmer.

  6. BB says:

    “you mad bro?

Hans is a film legend. bow down ha!”

    bla bla bla

Film legend for whom? Just for you, who’s a crazy fanboy who wants him to do ALL Hollywood blockbusters.

    Thankfully, wanting is not power.

Then shut the fuck up, get a picture of Zimmer and fuck off.

    • Roger says:

just for me? really? or countless other film fans around the world? stop being such a baby and deal with it. Hans is a legend with countless of classic scores and you’re….you 🙂

      • BB says:

And who are you, Roger? You’re just a fanboy! A frustrated fanboy 😀

        • Macejko says:

          You mad, BooBoo?

        • Roger says:

what are you BB? captain save a hater? 🙂

          • Jason Hansen says:

That’s enough, BB. Looks like you gone mad, I’m taking you out.

          • BB says:

Are you an internet psychiatrist? So take advantage and take the two guys up.

          • Jason Hansen says:

Enough talk, BB. You’re nothing but a traitor now.

          • Jason Hansen says:

Relax. BB’s right. It’s Giacchino, who returns to compose the score for the sequel. Not Hans Zimmer.

  7. Jason Hansen says:

BB, would we please calm down.
