Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

doctor-strangeExpected to top the weekend box office is Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, Michael Stuhlbarg and Tilda Swinton. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Giacchino (Star TrekUpInside OutJurassic WorldLost, The Incredibles, Ratatouille). trollsAlso opening wide is the animated feature Trolls directed by Mike Mitchell & Walt Dohrn and featuring the voices of Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick,  Zooey Deschanel, Gwen Stefani, Ron Funches, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Russell Brand, James Corden and Jeffrey Tambor. Christophe Beck (FrozenThe Peanuts Movie, Ant-ManThe Muppets) has composed the film’s original score. RCA Records has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score. Click here for the full details. hacksaw-ridgeThe third wide release this week is the war drama Hacksaw Ridge directed by Mel Gibson and starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Rachel Griffiths, Hugo Weaving and Vince Vaughn. The film’s original music is composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (The Legend of TarzanHotel RwandaOver the HedgeBee Movie). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Check out our soundtrack announcement for the full album details. lovingOpening in limited release is the drama Loving written and directed by Jeff Nichols and starring Joel Edgerton, Ruth Negga, Marton Csokas, Nick Kroll, Terri Abney, Alano Miller, Jon Bass and Michael Shannon. David Wingo (Take ShelterMudMidnight Special, All the Real GirlsThe Sitter, Joe) has composed the film’s original music. Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Loving by Ben Nichols digitally on November 11 and physically on November 18. the-eagle-huntressAlso opening in limited release this week is the documentary The Eagle Huntress directed by Otto Bell and narrated by Daisy Ridley. The movie centers on a 13-year-old girl, as she trains to become the first female in twelve generations of her Kazakh family to become an eagle hunter. The film features original music by Jingle Punks and Jeff Peters, as well as the original song Angel by the Wings performed by Sia. No word yet on a release of the score or song. army-of-oneAlso opening in select cities is the comedy Army of One directed by Larry Charles and starring Nicolas Cage, Russell Brand, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rainn Wilson and Paul Scheer. David Newman (AnastasiaIce AgeHoffaThe FlintstonesWar of the RosesSerenity) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which centers on a handyman from Colorado who receives a vision telling him to go to Pakistan to capture Osama Bin Laden, is being released in theaters and on VOD by Anchor Bay Entertainment/Dimension Films.

rainbow-timeAlso opening in select theaters is the indie comedy drama Rainbow Time written and directed by Linas Phillips and starring Melanie Lynskey, Phillips herself, Timm Sharp, Tobin Bell, Artemis Pebdani, Lauren Weedman and Jay Duplass. The film’s original music is composed by Heather McIntosh (Z for ZachariahComplianceHoneymoon). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which revolves around a developmentally delayed 40 year old man who is sent to live with his brother, premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released in theaters and on VOD by the Orchard.

trash-fireAnother limited release this week is the horror comedy Trash Fire written and directed by Richard Bates Jr. and starring Adrian Grenier, Angela Trimbur, Fionnula Flanagan, AnnaLynne McCord and Matthew Gray Gubler. Michl Britsch (Case 39PandorumAntibodies) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been released. For more information about the movie, which  follows a man who is forced to confront his past when he and his girlfriend end up entangled in a web of lies, deceit and murder, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and receives a theatrical and VOD release from Vertical Entertainment.

dog-eat-dogAlso opening in limited release is the crime thriller Dog Eat Dog directed by Paul Schrader and starring Nicolas Cage, Willem Dafoe and Christopher Matthew Cook. The film’s original music is composed by Deantoni Parks. The movie follows three ex-cons who are hired by an eccentric mob boss to kidnap a baby for a large ransom. When the abduction goes awry, the trio find themselves on the run from the mob and the cops. The thriller, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, is being released in theaters today by RLJ Entertainment followed by a VOD release on November 11.

the-charnel-houseAlso opening in select theaters is the supernatural thriller The Charnel House directed by Craig Moss and starring Callum Blue, Nadine Velazquez, Makenzie Moss, Erik LaRay Harvey, Joe Keery and Danielle Lauder. Todd Haberman (SatanicHemlock Grove) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie follows a British architect who finally achieves his dream of converting the long-abandoned Fairmont Meat Company slaughterhouse into a loft space, but not long after they move, his family notice strange things afoot. The movie is being released in theaters and on VOD by Freestyle Digital.

my-dead-boyfriendAlso opening in select cities is the comedy My Dead Boyfriend directed by Anthony Edwards and starring Heather Graham, Katherine Moennig, Griffin Dunne, Scott Michael Foster, John Corbett and Gina Gershon. The film’s original music is composed by Mark Wike (Swimming). The movie, which revolves around  a woman discovers who her couch potato boyfriend really was after she finds him dead at home, is being released in theaters and on VOD by Momentum Pictures.

the-ivory-gameAlso opening in select theaters while also premiering on Netflix is the documentary The Ivory Game directed by Kief Davidson and Richard Ladkani. H. Scott Salinas (Cartel LandAllegianceBirth of the DragonMurder in the First) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score was released digitally today.
