The film starring Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, Kiefer Sutherland, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons is based on the 1990 feature of the same title (scored by James Newton Howard) about a group of medical students who are exploring near death on the examination table until the consequences began to jeopardize their lives. Ben Ripley (Source Code) has written the screenplay of the reboot. Actor Michael Douglas is producing the project with Laurence Mark (Jerry MaguireI, RobotDreamgirls). Groth has previously collaborated with Oplev on such films as the Swedish original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo film, Dead Man Down and Worlds ApartFlatliners is set to be released on August 18, 2017 by Sony Pictures/Screen Gems.

midnight-texasGroth is also scoring the upcoming NBC drama Midnight, Texas. The show is developed by Monica Owusu-Breen (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Brothers & Sisters) based on the book series of the same name by author Charlaine Harris and stars François Arnaud, Sarah Ramos, Arielle Kebbel, Peter Mensah, Parisa Fitz-Henley and Dylan Bruce. The series is set in the small town of Midnight, Texas, where the real world and the supernatural collide in a place full of dark secrets and mysterious people. Niels Arden Oplev is executive producing the Universal Television production with David Janollari (Six Feet Under). Midnight, Texas will premiere in 2017 on NBC.
