Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

sullyExpected to top the weekend box office is the drama Sully directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart and Laura Linney. The film’s original music is composed by Christian Jacob and The Tierney Sutton Band. Eastwood has contributed the score’s theme and also co-wrote the end titles song Flying Home based on his theme. when-the-bough-breaksAlso opening wide is the thriller When the Bough Breaks directed by Jon Cassar and starring Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, Romany Malco, Michael K. Williams, Theo Rossi and Jaz Sinclair. John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, The FollowingDante’s PeakOffice Space) has composed the film’s original score. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. robinson-crusoeAlso opening nationwide is the animated feature The Wild Life (aka Robinson Crusoe) directed by Ben Stassen & Vincent Kesteloot and featuring the voices of Doug Stone, Ron Allen, Colin Metzger, Michael Sorich, Yuri Lowenthal, Sandy Fox and Jay Jones. The film’s original music is composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of ThronesIron ManPacific RimWarcraftClash of the Titans). Universal Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and the original song The World Belongs to Us by Marina Kaye earlier this year when the movie opened overseas. disappointments-roomThe fourth wide release of the week is the psychological thriller The Disappointments Room directed by D.J. Caruso and starring Kate Beckinsale, Gerald McRaney, Lucas Till, Mel Raido, Michaela Conlin and Michael Landes. Brian Tyler (Fast & FuriousIron Man 3Avengers: Age of UltronThor: The Dark WorldNow You See Me) has composed the film’s original music. kicksOpening in limited release is the indie drama Kicks directed by Justin Tipping and starring Jahking Guillory, Christopher Meyer, CJ Wallace, Kofi Siriboe and Mahershala Ali. The film’s original score is composed by Brian Reitzell (HannibalStranger Than FictionRed Riding Hood). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by Wu Tang Clan, RJ2D, Keith Jenkins, Nanasour, Marc E. Bassy, Mac Dre, Blue Magic & more. other-peopleAlso opening in limited release is the indie comedy drama Other People written and directed by Chris Kelly and starring Jesse Plemons, Molly Shannon, Bradley Whitford, Maude Apatow, Madisen Beaty, John Early, Zach Woods, JJ Totah, June Squibb and Paul Dooley. Julian Wass (Hit & RunThe OvernightAnimalsThe Pretty One) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The dramedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released in theaters and on VOD by Vertical Entertainment. ithacaAlso opening in select theaters is the drama Ithaca directed by Meg Ryan and starring herself, Sam Shepard, Alex Neustaedter, Tom Hanks, Hamish Linklater and Jack Quaid. Singer/songwriter John Mellencamp has composed the film’s original score and also wrote and original song for the project. No word on a soundtrack release. Ithaca premiered at this year’s Middleburg Film Festival and is being released in theaters and on VOD by Momentum Pictures. london-roadAnother limited release this week is the movie musical London Road directed by Rufus Norris and starring Tom Hardy, Olivia Colman, Kate Fleetwood, Michael Shaeffer, Clare Burt and Nick Holder. The film’s music is composed by Adam Cork (Genius) based on his work for the stage musical of the same title. Universal Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie performed by the film’s cast. for-the-love-of-spockAlso opening in select cities is the documentary For the Love of Spock directed by Adam Nimoy about the life of Star Trek’s Mr. Spock and the actor who played him for nearly fifty years, Leonard Nimoy. Nicholas Pike (Return to MeCaptain RonFeardotcomCritters 2) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which features appearances by William Shatner, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, J.J. Abrams, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana & more premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and is being released by Gravitas Ventures. Visit the official movie website for more information.

transpecosAlso opening in limited release is the drama Transpecos  co-written and directed by Greg Kwedar and starring Johnny Simmons, Gabriel Luna and Clifton Collins, Jr. The film’s original music is composed by The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner (The Revenant). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the end credits song Afraid of Everyone by The National.
