ferris-buellers-day-offLa-La Land Records has announced the details of the first soundtrack release for the 1986 comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off directed by John Hughes and starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck and Mia Sara. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ira Newborn (The Naked GunPlanes, Trains and AutomobilesUncle Buck), as well as the songs from the movie by The Flowerpot Men, Blue Room, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Yello, The Dream Academy and Wayne Newton. Also included as bonus tracks are source cues and alternate score cues. The soundtrack, which is limited to 5000 copies, will be available to pre-order on September 13 on the label’s official website.

    Well this is pretty awesome and I’m excited to get the original score from Ira Newborn, but there are more than 9 songs in the movie.

      Yeah, what about the extended English Beat instrumental when Ferris is racing home, jumping fences, to get in bed in time before his parents get home?!

        Rights issues prevented more songs. As stated in the announcement details (not posted here):

        “Due to licensing restrictions, a few of the film’s songs could not be included on this CD, but they are available elsewhere.”

        Well, it would have been very ncie to have the English Beat track, but the real unfortunate lose was “March of the Swivelheads”, famously used as the music where Ferris is running home at the end of the day.
