harry-gregson-williamsHarry Gregson-Williams confirmed in a recent video interview with Film.Music.Media that he is attached to score Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien: Covenant. The film is set to star Michael Fassbender who will reprise his role from Prometheus, as well as Katherine Waterstone. The movie follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant that discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark world whose sole inhabitant is David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. Gregson-Williams has previously scored Scott’s 2005 feature Kingdom of Heaven, as well as last year’s The Martian. He also contributed music to the director’s Prometheus and Exodus: Gods and KingsAlien: Covenant will be released on October 6, 2017 by 20th Century Fox.

The composer also revealed that he is about to start working on Ben Affleck’s upcoming drama Live by Night. The film stars Affleck himself, as well as Sienna Miller, Chris Messina, Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning, Scott Eastwood, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Cooper, Max Martini and Mark Valley. The movie based on a novel by Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, Shutter Island) is set in the Prohibition Era and centers around a group of individuals and their dealings in the world of organized crime. Affleck has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Jennifer Todd (Alice in Wonderland, Austin Powers, Memento) for Pearl Street, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio & Jennifer Davisson Killoran (Out of the Furnace, Orphan) for Appian Way. Gregson-Williams has previously scored Affleck’s feature directorial debut Gone Baby Gone and also co-scored the director’s 2010 thriller The TownLive by Night is currently scheduled to be released in 2017 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Gregson-Williams’ other upcoming projects also include the HBO original movie Confirmation starring Kerry Washington.

    This is awesome news. He can use his trademark technothriller style to flesh out Streitenfeld’s experimentation, and perhaps parody his own ‘Life’ theme for the hopeful Paradise. Godd luck, Harry!

    Amazing! Harry has been my childhood Film Composer since Antz and I hope he’s doing well. I think it’ll be really cool if he did a film with Tom Morello (RATM) on the musical side.
